a new revelation

"God blesses the one who reads this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to it and obey what it says. For the time is near when these things will happen."
~rev 1:3~
ugh...revelation. in my s.o.a.p. journal i'm starting to read revelation. some people get really jazzed about this book; while others avoid reading it out of fear. me? well, i don't fit into either of those categories. i've probably read most of it, although not from start to finish. i find certain things to be fascinating, interesting, and yes, even intellectually challenging.
i'm not a person that is overly concerned with the end times. it's not that i don't care about when, where, or how that will all happen - i just have this idea that all those details are best left in my mighty god's hands. i've come to the conclusion that i won't be able to understand it, so i'll just continue to avoid it. as i began reading today i started to realize that i have quite possibly done myself a huge disservice by not delving into this part of scripture before now.
after reading chapter 1, i still feel that i will probably not understand all of what i'm going to be taking in over the next several days (and i don't really think that i'm supposed to understand it all now). however, god has revealed himself to me throughout my s.o.a.p. readings, in ways that i never could have imagined. so, it is with that lesson learned i take this next step in my spiritual journey - backpack on and guide book in hand, excited to listen to and obey what is revealed to me next!
