eight and on a date!

so...i had a date with a very special eight year old last night.  it doesn't happen too often that everyone but mom and trey are doing something! i asked him if he'd like to go to olive garden - he's never been so he was pretty much stoked about the suggestion.  of course, we get over there and the line is out the door and down the sidewalk - it's just olive garden people!  fortunately, he's very easy to please and was content to change venues...red robin was a good fill-in.

i had such a great time with trey that i had to text myself some of his comments when he went to the bathroom so i wouldn't forget them! he's kind of growing out of his trey-ism stories but boy did he bring out some great ones last night! here's a sampling for your reading pleasure (p.s. keep in mind, these are just as random here as they were in conversation! lol):

T:  i probably shouldn't hang out with antonio much anymore.  i know dad said that no one else can get me in trouble, but i get in a lot more trouble when i'm with that guy!

T:  i wonder what i'm gonna look like when i grow up.
M:  really?  why do you wonder about that?
T:  i don't know.  didn't you wonder that when you were little?
M:  i don't think so...maybe i did.
T:  well, i do.  i've seen pictures of you when you were little and you just keep getting prettier and prettier and prettier!
M:  (speechless)

T:  it's gonna cost me a lot of money to get my restaurant started...construction...and then i'm gonna have to hire a bunch of peeps.
M:  yep, it's gonna be a big job! how do you think you're gonna pay for it?
T:  i'm gonna join the army or airforce.
M:  that might not be a bad idea!
T:  yeah, except if i get shot in iraq that would ruin this whole plan.
M:  true, that would kind of mess things up.
T:  and y'all would be really really sad.
M:  also true.
T:  but you'll see me again...momma, did you know that the bible says there are mansions waiting for us in heaven?
M:  yep, i did know that.  did you know that the biggest most wonderful mansion that you can imagine doesn't even come close to how awesome heaven is going to be?
T: yes...(deep in thought, takes another bit of spaghetti)...ohhhhh momma...i really hope it isn't a townhouse!
M: BBAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
T:  i mean i have been in a townhouse for  EIGHT YEARS!

love that boy!
