this pic was taken easter sunday morning at our church. nate and i were in a drama with a good friend, lisa. you can kind of see some of our praise team in the background.
we had a great easter! in the weeks leading up to easter, our church participated in some really great community outreach events. in the beginning of march we did a gas buy down. some of you may have done something like this at your church before - it is beyond amazing! we partenered with one of the gas stations in our community; we paid $5000 so that the price of gas could be only $1.99/gallon. we scheduled it from 10-2, but ran out of gas by about 12:30 because the word spread so quickly. we had such a great time; we were able to show jesus' love by meeting a practical need of everyone in our community! the following week, we did a very unusual service (even for believers)! we ordered 4000 door hangers to advertise our upcoming series beginning easter sunday. with the help of some wonderful volunteers, we were able to map out the surrounding community into 6 key areas. that sunday, we sectioned off our sanctuary and about 45 minutes into the service, the church "left the building" and went on a prayer walk. each colored section met at a different location and broke up into smaller groups and put the door hangers on the doors of homes as they prayed over each house. i can't even begin to describe what an amazing thing prayer walking is. it will definitely take you out of your comfort zone, but it is so powerful!! god is doing wonderful things in the lives of those involved at believers - long time members and attenders are being stretched in their faith and new believers are starting their amazing journey with the lord! i am blessed each day to see god moving - sometimes i just can't believe that he allows me to be even such a small part of his awesome plan and see a tiny glimpse of how great he is! it blows my mind!!! god is SO good!
