random thoughts for a hump-day

today is much like many other wednesdays...not a whole lot of excitement to report. it has been rainy and quite cool (in the 50s) for the last several days; i'm ready for it to be sunny and warm.

this week i'm preparing to dance to one of my favorite songs, beauty from pain (by superchick), this sunday. i have danced to it before, but i'm working on some different choreography this time around. the lyrics of the song are so powerful. sometimes i find myself "sick" of a song once i've worked on it for a while, but this one...this one never gets old. in fact, it does quite the opposite for me. i feel as though i'm being raked over the coals one minute and then basking in the beauty of god's mercy and grace for me time and time again, the next. i find myself being frustrated with how amazed i am when i go through what seems to be the darkest, coldest, most isolated place i could wander just to find the brightest, warmest, most secure arms completely surrounding me through it all. god is so good.

i have recently had some good friends and even family members join me in the experience of that dismal place. maybe even as you read this, you are finding yourself there. i pray that you would know the peace and comfort that comes from jesus. no matter where you are or what you've gone through, there can be beauty from your pain.
